Meet Dani Carney, LICSW
She/Her/Hers
I am passionate about providing holistic, person-centered care for my clients. My goal is to partner with you to give you space to explore the challenges you may be facing and to help you feel empowered to take control in these challenges. I have recently added after work and weekend availability to my schedule in order to better accommodate the individuals I work with.
I support individuals and families in navigating critical illness, chronic illness, grief, and loss. In fact, I lead a therapeutic support group for patients adjusting to illness at a local hospital. In the hospital setting, I get to see the ins and outs of healthcare and I value working with those undergoing treatment and their caregivers as they navigate life's transitions.
I am happy to provide skill-based work to support clients in creating greater agency in their lives. However, I also provide all clients with kindness, compassion, and patience through the talk therapy process. I utilize an attachment-based framework, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Art Therapy to support my clients!

Outside of the office, you may find me reading, swimming, or puzzling! I am originally from the Boston area and in the warmer months, I enjoy taking the dogs on a walk around Deer Island and exploring the state's fantastic walking paths. In the colder months, you can find me bundled up indoors drinking hot tea and trying a new puzzle.
With gratitude,
Dani Carney, LICSW

Life Transitions
"In my work, I show up with empathy, warmth, and a steady presence for people moving through life’s big transitions. Whether that’s marriage, divorce, kids, grief, or the curveballs you never saw coming, I help folks make sense of the changes and find their grounding again."
Chronic and Critical Illness
"I work with individuals navigating the emotional toll of chronic and critical illness, offering space to process the heaviness, uncertainty, and everything in between. I also support caregivers. Holding someone else’s pain is no small thing. Together, we make room for your experience, your needs, and your well-being, too."
Complex Family Dynamics
"I support folks who are working through complicated family dynamics, including loss, long-standing tension, or generational patterns. Together, we sort through the messiness, set boundaries that feel right, and make sense of how your family story has shaped you. You get to decide what you want to carry forward and what you’re ready to let go."
Identity Development
"I work with people who are exploring who they are and how that has changed/is changing over time. I especially love supporting neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ clients as they navigate identity in all its complexity. My approach is affirming, collaborative, and rooted in the belief that there’s no one right way to be yourself."
